Poseidon hotel is located next to the harbor and prides itself as the gem of Spetses. Built in 1914 by the national benefactor Sotirios Anargyros, it was a key pillar in the island's development plans, along with Anargyrios and Korgilanios School. Its creation was based on designs by the architect Panagiotis Zizilas, which were inspired by respective hotels cosmopolitan Côte d'Azur.
Posidonio in its heyday was the largest and most impressive hotel in the province and hosted many foreign distinguished guests as well as leading figures of Greece, like Eleftherios Venizelos.
Today Poseidonio is fully renovated, inviting the visitor to admire its exterior and, if he can afford to, enjoy its hospitality.
The church of Panagia Armata lies over the Old Port on the headland of the Lighthouse. It was built by Ionnis Koutsis in honor of the Virgin and in commemoration of the great victory of Spetses over the Turkish fleet in 1822. It is celebrated to this day every September (the famous festival of Armata). The church was built where canons defending the island of Spetses used to be during the revolution, and in its courtyard a statue of Kosmas Barbatsis, the one to set Armata on fire, was placed (work of the famous sculptor Natalia Mela).
Lighthouse (Faros)
The famous lighthouse of Spetses is above the Old Harbor. In 1837 the first lighthouse opened in Spetses. It functioned using oil, but it no more exists. The current lighthouse opened in 1885, having a height of 11 meters. The lighthouse of Spetses differs from most lighthouses in Greece, being situated in a residential area. Untill 1986 that it became fully automated, it had a lighthouse keeper. The position of the lighthouse and the building itself is a very good reason for a pleasant walk.
The beach is located at the north-western of the island. It is accesible by every transportation found on Spetses, but if you choose to walk there you will grand your self with an enjoyable experience!
If you do not have your own bicycle or motorcycle, then you can easily take the Bus which regularly leaves from the central "Possidonion Square". The beach of Vrellos has been open for the last few years and the people who did this, have accomplished to take a "dead" corner of the island, condemned in its loneliness and turn it to a most vivid and popular place!

There is a ground beach volley next to the beach, but in a safe distant, to avoid any nuisance to the swimmers. It is located carefully at a spot where the view to the beach and vice versa is possible in such a way, so those that the Volley players will have a reason or two, to demonstrate their talent. And these reasons are very obvious, as it is very likely to attract the glance of some of the most beautiful people watching the score!
Racquet-playing is available all along the beach, nevertheless it is far more enjoyable in waters or behind the beach bar (if you do not have racquets of your own, don't miss to ask at The beach bar. Most possibly there is a lost & found pair!) under the pines, in a really cool and beautiful spot.
2.6 km from the city of Spetses you will find Ligoneri and its beach. It is pretty big with pebbles and sand. Hmm.. Not a bad idea if you want a chill-out day at the beach.
Ligoneri can be reached from sea by boat or water-taxi, and by bus, taxi or your own vehicle.
Zogeria beach is 7 km away from the town of Spetses, located in the northern part of the isalnd. Zogeria is organised, having a tavern, umbrellas and loungers.

The beach Agia Paraskevi is 14 kilometers away from the town of Spetses. Extremely green for a beach, it is for many the most beautiful that the island has to offer. Its big pebbles and crystal clear waters are a plus.
