Museum of the City of Athens

The Museum of the City of Athens, is in the center of Athens, in Klafthmonos square. It was founded in 1973 by the well-known politician Lambros-Eutaxias. The Museum of the City of Athens is housed in two adjacent buildings, one of which was the first residence of King Otto, also known as the Old Palace.

The buildings of the museum host more than 40 000 items, presenting the history of the city of Athens from the Frankish period up to the 19th century.
Some of the museum's collections that stand out are the collections of:

  • Books and musical instruments
  • Stamps
  • Religious relics
  • Paintings and engravings

And many others, while the visitor's attention will certainly be drawn by the model, representing faithfully Athens in 1842.
