Agios Georgios Kastro in Evia

Agios Georgios Kastro in Evia

The Castle of Agios Georgios is in Kymi, in the wider region of Euboea(Evia).

The Castle is also known as Kymi Castle and it is probably a Byzantine building, with an unknown date of foundation. It is perched on a steep cliff and it served as a watchtower.

Today all that is preserved from the castle is part of the walls, ruins of the towers and a cistern. The castle took its name from a chapel dedicated to Saint George, which was abandoned along with the rest of the castle and later rebuilt by monks.

If you like hiking and mountaineering, it is worth visiting the Castle of Agios Georgios in Kymi and enjoying the breathtaking views of the area.
