The Folklore Museum of Chalkida is in Chalkida, in the wider region of Euboea(Evia).
The Folklore Museum of Chalkida was founded in 1981 and is housed in the Negroponte castle, a building which itself has a long history. Its three halls are home to thousands of objects shedding light to the traditions of the region.
In the first room you will find an abundance of traditional local costumes of Evia and Skyros.
The second room presents Chalkida in the early 20th century, through the representation of a middle-class house with furnishings and workshops with the corresponding equipment.
The third room is dedicated to agricultural and livestock occupations. Paraphernalia and tools of the farmer, the shepherd, the beekeeper are all exhibited here along with the equipment of a regular village house.
