In the western part of Agistri island lies the beach Dragonera.

Dragonera is a pebbly beach integrated in a wonderful natural landscape with pine trees that almost reach the sea. In its crystal clear and relatively shallow waters you will enjoy an idyllic swim. A part of the beach is organized with sun beds and umbrellas, while in the area you will also find a canteen for coffee, drinks or a simple snack.

Megalochori or Milos beach is in the northwestern part of Agistri island, in front of the namesake village.

Where the gorgeous blue waters end, the beach is paved with small pebbles and sand. The beach is organized with loungers, parasols and water sports facilities. As soon as you feel exhausted by the sea and its cool waters, in Megalochori or Milos beach you will find several taverns, ouzeris, restaurants and coffee bars to enjoy a great meal or a refreshing drink and coffee.

Chalikiada beach is on the northeast side of Agistri island.

Chalikiada is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches not only in Agistri, but across the Saronic Gulf. It owes its name to the large pebbles that cover the whole beach, known in Greek as ''chalikia''. These pebbles, the wonderful vegetation and the blue waters create the ideal setting for a perfect day by the beach.

Access to Chalikiada is quite difficult, as you need to walk through the pine trees along a short path. Yet, once you arrive you get an extraordinary sense of isolation that, together with the magnificent scenery, compensate for your time.

Skliri beach is between Skala and Chalikiada.

In Skliri you will find amazing blue waters to swim, while in the area there is a beach bar with sun loungers and umbrellas to relax and enjoy your coffee, a drink or a light meal.

Skala beach is beside the namesake settlement.

Skala is a lovely beach with beautiful golden sand. Although located near the port, it has clean and shallow waters, making it a perfect choice for families with children. Once you find yourself in Skala, you can combine a wonderful swim with a meal in the excellent taverns and restaurants, while later (or earlier) you can enjoy your coffee or drinks in the coffee bars available in the area.

Beside your own vehicle, you can move around Agistry island by bus (more information 22970 91244) and ground or water taxis.

Ships and flying dolphins depart daily from the port of Piraeus to Agistri. You can also reach Agistri by ferry, sailboat or water taxi.

Brief history of Agistri

Reading ancient texts you will stumble upon Agistri island, but you won't recognize it as it was called Kekrifalia, meaning 'embellished head'. Homer refers to its participation in the Trojan War on the side of Aegina.

Archaeological findings indicate that the island was already inhabited by 5th century BC. Unfortunately, no particular historical archives survive, besides the fact that during the 17th century Agistri was deserted due to pirate raids. It is only after the 1821 Revolution, that residents started gradually returning back to the island. So, in 1835 when the first Community of Agistri was created, the island had 250 residents.

Agistri is right in the heart of the Saronic Gulf.

It is a small but beautiful island and an all-time favorite destination for excursions and holidays. Agistri island can be reached by boat, being almost an hour away from the port of Piraeus and just 5 minutes from Aegina. This short distance and the lush landscape combined with enchanting beaches, have made Agistri a top tourist destination (inversely proportional to its size).

Agistri has two ports, Skala in which ships from Piraeus moor and Megalochori or else Mylos in which Flying Dolphins arrive.

The island does not exceed an area of 12 square kilometers, but you have to experience it in its entirety. Visit Megalochori and the windmill to which it owes its second name, Mylos(=Mill). Continue towards Scala, and you'll surely notice a white church with blue dome dedicated to Agioi Anargyroi. Drive around the island and discover marvelous beaches, a lake near Limenaria and the tiny islands of Aponisos and Dorousa with the church of Prophet Elias.

The tourist infrastructure in Agistri is excellent, with hotels and spotless rooms ready to satisfy even the most demanding visitor. Restaurants, cafes and bars where you can enjoy delicious food, coffee or a drink.

Every year Agistri attracts more and more visitors, many of whom come for the umpteenth time. Perhaps the time has come for you to visit too...!

Paros is an island that takes great care to preserve the old customs and traditions, while introducing them to visitors.

Easter in Paros is a very special experience. On Good Friday people gather in Marpissa to admire the impressive representation of the Passion of Christ. Similar representations also take place in other parts of the island such as Aspro Chorio(White Village), while the Resurrection of Christ with the fascinating fireworks and the Easter table create a must-lived experience.

In Paros several festivals and celebrations are organized, having mainly religious nature, including:

  • June 23, Festival of Klidonas in Naoussa, Alyki and Prodromos
  • August 6, Feast of the Saviour in Marpissa and Alyki
  • August 15, Feast of Panagia Ekatontapiliani (the biggest celebration throughout Paros)
  • August 28 &29, Feast of Agios Ioannis in the namesake monastery
  • September 14, The True Cross in Agairia

Note that a very special festival takes place on August 23 in Naoussa, the famous Pirate Festival. A representation of the fights with pirate Barbarossa takes place on the island, accompanied by various cultural events and high jinks. Another interesting event is the Wine and Fish Festival that takes place in July in Naoussa, as well as the (mobile) celebration of Karavolas in Lefkes which marks the end of summer.
