The Lighthouse of Akrotiri is 18 km from Fira, close to the namesake village. It was built in 1892 by the company La Société Collas et Michel. Its tower has a height of 10 meters, it initially functioned with oil and its light was visible from a distance of 23 nautical miles. In 1983 electricity was used for its activation, while around 1988 it went fully automatic.
