The Castle of Naoussa is situated in Paros island in the Naoussa region.

The castle of Naoussa was constructed at the entrance of the picturesque port by the Venetians, who wanted to protect the ships and the town from pirates. Unfortunately it was not enough to stop the notorious pirate Barbarossa, who in 1537 after several days of battle, occupied the castle and plundered Paros.

Today the castle has suffered greatly by the years and the elements of nature and thus can not be visited. Yet, you can admire it from close range as you stroll in Naoussa. Especially at night the Castle of Naoussa is a beautiful sight not to be missed.
