The Temple of Demetra is near Sangri, in Naxos.
Built in the 6th century B.C., the Temple of Demetra was created at a location that was already used for worship by the residents. This is an impressive church, built entirely of marble, which until the Roman era worshiped the goddess Demeter.
In the early Christian period, the church was converted into a basilica church, while the late 20th century as part of a special program, the temple of Demetra was restored to its original form, which you can see if you visit the archaeological site.
