The Venetian Museum of Naxos is in Chora.
It is housed in the beautiful Della Rocca-Barozzi Tower that was built in the beginning of the 13th century. The tower, located right next to the Trani Gate of the castle, was the garrison headquarters when the Venetians occupied Naxos. As soon as the Turks conquered the island, it turned into a Venice consulate.
In the Venetian Museum of Naxos you will feel as if you are in a traditional Venetian mansion and among others you can see:
• Utensils, furniture and everyday objects
• Typical costumes
• Arms
• Paintings
The Venetian Naxos Museum plays an important cultural role as it hosts very remarkable music events.
