Byzantine Museum of Naxos

The Byzantine Museum of Naxos is in Chora.

The Byzantine Museum of Naxos is housed in Crispi Tower. Crispi Tower is known as Glezos Tower, which is the name of its last owner that donated it to the state in order to turn it into a museum. At the entrance of the tower, one can see the coats of arms of the Crispi and Abruzzi families, who were owners of the building at different times.

Among the exhibits you can admire splendid examples of Byzantine sculpture, marble inscriptions and fragments of Byzantine churches. Yet, the most striking exhibit is the detached dome of "Protothroni", a sight that leaves all visitors speechless.

If you happen to wander around the Castle of Chora, do not forget to visit the Byzantine Museum of Naxos.
